Douglas B-23 Dragon

The Douglas B-23 Dragon was a redesign of the Douglas B-18 Bolo bomber. Incorporating a larger wingspan and improved defensive armament, a total of 38 were built. Outclassed by other medium bombers such as the North American B-25 and Douglas B-26, it was relegated to training duties although 18 were converted to transports as the UC-67.

For a brief period, B-23s were used to patrol the west coast of the United States.

Post war, many were converted to executive transports, with others being used as engine test-beds.
