Bristol Beaufighter in Dominican Service

Bristol Beaufighter in Republic of Dominica Service

The Bristol Type 156 Beaufighter was a British multi-role aircraft developed during the Second World War for the Royal Air Force (RAF). It was originally conceived as a heavy fighter variant of the Bristol Beaufort torpedo bomber.

The Dominican Republic received ten Bristol Beaufighters in 1948. These were TF.Xs that had been re-engined with Bristol Hercules VI engines and had their torpedo shackles removed. This effectively turned them into Mk.VI versions. They were operated until 1954.
