Arado Ar 196A-3

Arado Ar 196A-3

The Arado Ar 196A-3 was introduced as a successor to the Ar 196A-4 and underwent production until 1943, when it was eventually replaced by the A-5 model on the assembly line. Operated by a BMW 132K nine-cylinder radial engine boasting 960 horsepower, the A-3 retained the same armament specifications as the A-4. This included two 20 mm MG FF cannons integrated into the wings, a 7.92 mm MG 17 machine gun positioned within the cowling, and an additional 7.92 mm MG 17 machine gun located at the rear end of the cockpit. In terms of its payload capacity, the A-3 had the ability to carry two 50 kg (110 lb) bombs beneath its wings or two depth charges specifically designed for anti-submarine warfare.
