Arado Ar 196 Floatplanes of Seeaufklärungsgruppe 126

Seeaufklärungsgruppe 126 (Sea Reconnaissance Group 126) operated Arado Ar 196 floatplanes from land bases in Greece and Crete. The unit was formed in July 1943 from parts of Aufklärungsgruppe 126 and Seeaufklärungsgruppe 130.

The first staffel, 1./SAGr.126, was based in Skaramanga near Athens and operated mainly over the Aegean Sea and the eastern Mediterranean.

The second staffel, 2./SAGr.126, was based in Kavala in north-east Greece and operated mainly over the northern Aegean and the Black Sea.

The third staffel, 3./SAGr.126 and forth staffel, 4./SAGr.125 were based in Souda Bay in Crete and operated mainly over the central Mediterranean and the Libyan coast.

The unit was disbanded in May 1945, shortly before the end of the war.
