EWR VJ 101
The EWR VJ 101 was an experimental German vertical take off and landing fighter designed for the German Luftwaffe first flying on 10 April 1963. EWR (Entwicklungsring Süd) was a joint venture to develop the aircraft by Heinkel, Bölkow and Messerschmitt. VJ stood for Versuchsjäger, (German for “Experimental Fighter”).
Changing role requirements from an interceptor to a general fighter greatly complicated development and the project was cancelled in 1968 with only the X-1 and X-2 aircraft flying.
