Hawker Hurricane
First flying in 1935, the Hawker Hurricane was introduced to Royal Air Force (RAF) squadron service in December 1937. By the outbreak of the Second World War, it equipped 18 squadrons of Fighter Command. Famous for its role in the Battle of Britain, it went on to serve as a fighter bomber and ground attack aircraft.
Exported to several countries prior to the start of hostilities, it was also used by air forces in exile and foreign national squadrons operating within the RAF.
