Hawker Hurricane in Belgian Service
Prior to the start of the Second World War, Belgium ordered 20 Hawker Hurricanes, with a licence to produce 80 more by Fairey. All of the Hawker produced fighters were delivered prior to the 10 May invasion by Germany, but only two of the local Fairey Hurricanes had flown. All but three were destroyed on the ground in an early morning raid on the first day of hostilities. These three were destroyed the next day.
