Heinkel He 112 in Spanish Service
The Heinkel He 112V-6 was sent to Spain in 1938, to demonstrate its abilities to the Spanish Nationalists while operating with the Legion Condor. As a result, Spain ordered 19 He 112B fighters, which started operation in January 1939. Used primarily for ground attack, only one aerial kill was obtained during the Spanish Civil War.
In World War Two, Spanish Heinkel He 112Bs were deployed to Morocco, where they intercepted Allied and Axis aircraft that strayed into their territory. The only loss attributed to these interceptions was an American Lockheed P-38 forced down in Algeria after straying into Morocco.
The Spanish aircraft served until they were grounded due to a lack of spares.
