Latécoère 299A
The Latécoère 299A was a reconstruction of one of the original prototypes to use two Hispano-Suiza 12 Y-31, 800 hp engines driving contra-rotating propellers. The cockpit was redesigned and moved to the rear, while a mechanical was seated in the rear fuselage to regulate the engines. It was tested in 1944 by Luftwaffe personnel. Before a test flight could be made, the aircraft nosed over and damaged the front of the aircraft during a taxi run. The aircraft was repaired but later destroyed in an allied bombing raid on 30 April 1944.
