On March 15-16, 1944 Oberfeldwebel Helmut Treynogga and radio-operator Heinz Schwarz from 6./NJG6in Messerschmitt Bf 110 G-4 2Z+OP got lost and landed in Duebendorf, Switzerland. The Swiss tested the radar of the Bf 110 by pointing the Bf 110 upwards. Then a group of Swiss fighter planes flew overhead. That’s when this unusual photo was taken.

During the night of 27/28 April 1044 a Messerschmitt Bf 110G-4 night fighter C9+EN of 6./NJG 5 force landed in Switzerland after suffering engine problems. In order to keep the Lichtenstein ‘fug 220 airborne radar from falling into Allied hands, Germany agreed to sell twelve Bf 109G fighters to Switzerland in exchange for its destruction.
