Mitsubishi Ki-109

Mitsubishi Ki-109 Japanese Heavy Fighter

Mitsubishi Ki-109

The Mitsubishi Ki-109 was a fighter conversion of the Ki-67-I. It was armed with a fixed 75 mm Type 88 Heavy Cannon in the nose and one mobile 12.7 mm (0.5 in) Ho-103 Type 1 machine gun in the tail. Two prototypes were produced, followed by 22 production models.
The Ki-109 fighter differed from the prototypes and bomber versions by lacking gun positions in upper and side positions and had no bomb-bay compartments. The fixed 75 mm Type 88 Heavy Cannon in the nose was retained from the prototype while having a revised tail gun position.
