During the Chinese Civil War, the Communist Chinese captured Nakajima Ki-43 fighters from the Nationalist Chinese. The first five were obtained in October 1945 at Shenyang. These were repaired and used for training. Additional Ki-43s were captured as communist forces advanced throughout China. The last example was retired by 1952.
