Designed and built in 1919, the Nieuport 31 was a monoplane (or sesquiplane – depending on interpretation) fighter prototype. Despite demonstrating promising performance, Nieuport did not proceed with the design. Instead, the company developed the Nieuport-Delage Sesquiplane from it as a dedicated racing aeroplane.
