Renard R.38 Belgian Fighter Aircraft
The Renard R.38 was a development of the Renard R.36 substituting the Hispano-Suiza 12Y liquid-cooled engine of 910hp with a Rolls-Royce Merlin II of 1,030hp. The increase in power gave a maximum speed of 340mph. Armament consisted of four 7.7mm or 13.2mm machine guns located in the wings.
First flying on 4 August 1939, it was evacuated to France when the fall of Belgium was imminent. Located at Bordeaux by the Germans who scrapped the aircraft after evaluating it.
