Short Stirling in Luftwaffe Service
Operated by 7 Squadron RAF with fuselage codes MG-F, Short Stirling N3705 was captured on 16 August 1942 while overflying The Netherlands. Encountered problems the captain elected to make an emergency landing. N3705 came to rest in an open field at Gorinchem, Netherlands. The heavy bomber was salvaged by the Germans and flown in Luftwaffe markings for testing by Erprobungsstelle Rechlin as aircraft 6+8.
