Supermarine Seafire F Mk XVII
The Supermarine Seafire F Mk XVII was a direct development of the preceding Supermarine Seafire F Mk XV, with a cut-down rear fuselage and bubble canopy. The additional of a stronger wing spar and landing gear permitted the carriage of larger weapon loads such as two 250 lb bombs or eight 3-inch rockets. A total of 232 Supermarine Seafire F Mk XVII were built, but were too late to see action in World War Two, as squadrons were still working up when it ended.
