Fountain at Norman Lindsay Gallery and Museum

Norman Lindsay Gallery and Museum

Love Australian artists or Norman Lindsay in particular? Or you just want to soak up a bit of culture while you are in the Blue Mountains? Then the Norman Lindsay Gallery and Museum is for you. Located in Faulconbridge, it is on your way to or from Sydney. It makes a great stop with its bush setting and original setting.

Museum and Out Buildings

We wandered around the house admiring the paintings on display and then took the tour of Norman Lindsay’s oil painting workshop and etching room. The rooms have been left untouched since his death in 1969. There are some excellent figures from the Magic Pudding and many of Lindsay’s drawings of the book on display.

The guide gave a fascinating view of his life, relationships and art.

Photography is not allowed inside the buildings. However, there is a gift shop with an extensive range of books and souvenirs.

Gardens

Wandering around the gardens is worthwhile. Norman’s sculptures are still there and look amazing. It is a pity that they are not all being conserved as apparently they are considered garden ornaments not art works. Only a few have been cast in bronze to preserve them.

Cafe

We finished our visit at the Norman Lindsay Café which is adjacent to the Norman Lindsay Gallery and Museum.  A great place in a nice relaxed bush setting. A beautiful place for afternoon tea before setting off home.
