Hawker Woodcock
Used by the RAF as a night fighter in the 1920s, the Woodcock was the first fighter produced by Hawker. Armament consisted of two 0.303 inch machine guns mounted externally on the fuselage, synchronised to fire through the propeller arc.
The RAF operated 62 Woodcocks in numbers 3 and 17 Squadrons between 1925 and 1928, when they were replaced by Gloster Gamecocks. Three additional aircraft were built by Hawker for Denmark, where a further 12 were built under licence.
