HMS Suffolk Scale Models
Commissioned into the Royal Navy on 31 May 1928, HMS Suffolk was a County-class heavy cruiser of the Kent subclass. She was badly damaged during the Norwegian campaign when hit aft by German bombers, being out of action from April 1940 until February 1941.
In May 1941, she shadowed the German battleship Bismarck, enabling the Royal Navy to intercept her. This resulted in the Battle of the Denmark Strait and the loss of the British battlecruiser HMS Hood. Bismarck was later sunk by HMS Rodney and HMS King George V.
Suffolk then served with the Home Fleet in the Arctic until December 1942. The remainder of the war was spent with the Eastern Fleet, operating in the Indian Ocean. Placed in reserve post-war she was sold for scrap in 1948.
